A Letter From Our Club President to Our Families

Genesis Families,

I hope everyone is well and is dealing with the issues of COVID-19 without too much difficulty.  We have been working behind the scenes to prepare for the upcoming season, and to the best of our ability, close out the 2019/2020 season.

COVID-19 Update

As you know, the Local, State and Federal governments have put restrictions on all non-essential functions. As a result, while essential to us, none of the hockey programs can be on the ice. Rinks have closed. The Atlantic District can not plan any tryouts/evaluations until the restrictions are lifted. Based on a previous conference call, when we are able to begin, the Tier I tryouts will come first, followed by the Tier II evaluations/tryouts. If you planned on having your player go out for Tier I tryouts, you will still have that ability to do so. If Tier I does not work out, then you can come out for the Tier II tryouts/evaluations. This is the same process which was in place in the past. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

2019/2020 Banquet

The re-scheduling of our banquets will depend on the lifting of restrictions, and the scheduling of the tryouts/evaluations. While I believe the banquets are important, it may not be possible to host them this year. As previously stated, we have not , and will not deposit any checks received until a final decision is made. If the banquets are not held, we will be making alternative plans to acknowledge our players and teams for their participation this past season.

2019/2020 Season

We fielded 20 teams this past season, including four Mite teams. The merger of the Ice Dogs, and the Wildcats was a major success. That success is a tribute to you, the members of our club. Your willingness to take a chance on the new organization made our job much easier. The following teams made the post-season playoffs.

Squirt AA – went to the DVHL playoffs
Squirt A American – went to the DVHL playoffs, and won the DVHL Championship
Squirt B National – went to the DVHL playoffs
Peewee AA – DVHL Champions, and received a bye to the AAHA District Championships
Bantam A American -  went to the DVHL playoffs
Midget 16AA Green - DVHL Champions, and received a bye to the AAHA District Championships
Midget 16A National Green - went to the DVHL playoffs
Midget 18AA - went to the DVHL playoffs and advanced to the AAHA Championships

The AAHA Championship weekend was cancelled, and as a result, the Peewee AA team could not play for the AAHA District Championship. Both the Midget 16AA Green, and the Midget 18AA lost their chance to advance to the National Championships, which were also cancelled. What is most disappointing, is the fact that eight players on the 18AA team were in their last year of youth hockey, and did not have a chance to participate in the District Championships, leading to the National Championships.

Congratulations to all of our teams for their time and dedication to Genesis Hockey Club. We look forward to working towards the same success in the 2020/2021 season.

2020/2021 Season

Thank you to all who have registered for the evaluations/tryouts. A special thank you to the new members of Genesis who have registered with our Club. If those who have not registered intend to come back to Genesis, we would ask that you send in your registration. As previously noted, we are working behind the scenes to set up the coming season, and that work is always easier when we have the registrations in hand and understand how many players are coming out at each age level. Be assured, there will be a season. They say patience is a virtue; for now, we do not have any choice but to be patient. When the rules are relaxed, we must be ready to go, and we will be. Your registration now will help in our ability to  be ready for that day. The registration form can be found HERE.

Regards,
